Hello everyone. I initially took four weeks off to get through rehearsals for my current show. (Come see EVITA at Olney Theatre Center! #shamelessplug) However, after that, as I am sure you are aware, a lot has happened in our country and I couldn't post. I felt like posting about my ridiculous life would be trivial. Today's post is about courage. The courage to love.
Orlando, Dallas, Alton Sterling, and Philando Castile, are the latest and there have been countless others. Why does this keep happening? I cannot answer that question. I can only, like everyone else, pray and hope it will come to an end. We often talk about love, and how we need to love each other. However, what people don't realize is loving is not easy. It takes extreme courage to love.
We can't get everyone's lives back that we have lost. I emphasis the we because we as a human race are suffering from the deaths of our loved ones. We can love though.
Coming out of such a dark place and not resorting to hatred/bitterness takes courage.
Saying let's all stand together/love one another is easier said than done. It takes courage to put someone else's needs over your own. But that's love. It takes courage to admit that you are wrong. Again, that too is love. Just last week I was corrected by one of my cast mates. I was unknowingly bringing negativity into a room. I then had to do a self evaluation and ask myself : "What's going on?"
All of us can benefit from just checking in from time to time about what we are bringing into the world. Are we just saying we are positive and bringing love?
Or in the dark moments of our lives, are we actively searching and fighting for light?
Courage. Everyone has it, you just have to dig deep and find the courage to be COURAGEOUS. Don't fight hate. Fight for love. Why?
Love. Will. Prevail.
