I saw 50 Shades Darker on Tuesday. Yes, if you do the math that means I saw it on Valentine's Day.
I'm basic.
It's the oldest story in the book, beauty meets the beast, and we get to see how the two change each other. The good girl falls for the bad guy and he softens up a little, while still keeping a little "edge". This is literally every other romance movie so I don't need to go into detail.
So why do we keep telling it?
What is our obsession with this idea? Now, of course, 50 Shades adds a little twist which makes things interesting. (VERY interesting.) However, we keep this idea because it's what we all want? That is a legitimate question. Is this beauty/beast the ideal relationship? I can tell you in all these movies 9/10 before the happy ending, there is DRAMA that ensues before. Every relationship, hell even friendships, are not a walk in the park. We can't write someone off from the first impression because we are taught not to judge books by their cover. However, if it looks like a beast, talks like a beast, walks like a beast...
Girl. He a beast.
