The part time job. Also known as, the twenty somethings main source of income. Last week I worked lunch on Tuesday, dinner Wednesday, lunch Thursday, catered Thursday night, Friday I still have no clue but it didn’t involve rest, Saturday brunch, catered Saturday night until 4 a.m. Sunday, worked brunch on Sunday, and then Monday I died.
Oh and you guessed it a bitch is still broke.
It’s almost comical comparing how much we hate our lives while we pursue our twenty something dreams. Especially if you have the nerve to be an actor in the city of New York.
Having a “survival” job teaches true gratitude. You never know how much you want something until you are telling the 100th person in a row that the dressing DOES come on the side. Stop asking.
I think about my sister, (whose age will not be revealed but let’s us just say she is closer to a birthday that rhymes with flirty), who graduated in 2011 and within the past year found her ideal job. My best friend Will was in the same boat, along with many of my other friends.
If the span of years between 20-29 are meant for finding yourself - Why do we always feel so lost?
However, sometimes when you get lost, you find a completely new path. You might just have to wait a couple (hundred) tables on the way.
